In a Connected World, Let Us Stay Connected 🌍🤝

It may seem strange that, in this so-called connected world, the uncertainties around us—disputes, conflicts, and wars—can sometimes make us feel more disconnected than ever.

But we should not allow uncertainty to stop us from connecting with people.

Let us continue to strengthen friendships, build new relationships, and reach across borders—within our own homeland and beyond.

Travel, when we can afford it, is one way to meet people and experience different cultures. But even when we cannot travel, technology has made it easier than ever to stay connected. Today, meaningful conversations, professional meetings, business discussions, and even major deals can take place online.

Living in the Middle East, I have had the opportunity to meet people from many different backgrounds, make new friends, and travel whenever circumstances allow.

In early April 2021, I spent more than a week in Singapore meeting business associates and friends. It was one of my many visits to Singapore. Some trips were for business, while others were simply about meeting friends and experiencing the country.

As a Muslim, I also make time to visit mosques wherever I travel.

During that visit, I visited Al-Falah Mosque along Orchard Road. What impressed me most was seeing a mosque standing peacefully in the heart of one of Singapore’s busiest and most famous shopping districts.

It was a beautiful reminder of what Singapore represents to me—a place where people of different races, religions, cultures, and nationalities can live, work, and interact peacefully.

For me, meeting people from different backgrounds is not only part of business. It is also something I genuinely enjoy during my travels and personal time.

Every conversation teaches us something.

Every friendship opens a door.

Every culture we encounter gives us an opportunity to understand the world a little better.

The world does not need more walls. It needs more bridges.

As an Ummah, let us continue to strengthen our ukhuwah, minimise conflicts among ourselves, and build relationships based on mutual respect and understanding with the wider community.

We may not be able to control everything happening around the world.

But we can choose how we respond.

Let us choose connection over isolation.
Understanding over suspicion.
Friendship over division.
Peace over conflict.

In an uncertain world, let us continue to reach out, connect, and build bridges. 🌍🤝
